The Houston Astros, notorious for their success in Major League Baseball, are baffled by the development this week of an unexpected losing streak after just winning their first world series in five years, last year in November of 2022.
There is no clear explanation for their misfortune, as their powerful offense is struggling to score, and their pitching staff is uncharacteristically unreliable. “It feels like we're playing terrible,”said Alex Bregman . “That's it. We’re not playing good.”
Being second to the Texas Rangers on the scoreboard could be putting astros fans in a frantic shock, for even the normally reliable stars of the team have failed to perform up to standard. “I'm tired of our guys getting hit.” said the team’s Manager Dusty Baker
The Astros are facing a great challenge as they are now unsure of what to do.
With their continuing losing streak ,they managed to just beat the Mariners(8-3) on September 27. “We think this game was huge,” said Martin Maldonado . “Everybody was talking today that we’ve been here before in this situation -- a must-win game. We went out there and executed from the first at-bat. We followed our game plan and we got the W. We have to take the same thing to Arizona.” Concerns about their prospects in the postseason this year grew a tremendous amount, but this ensures that their Wild Card position is improved.
As the regular season comes to an end, it remains certain that they will try their best to overcome their lack of coordination by collaborating as a team in hopes of claiming yet another championship title.
“Everybody knows what’s at stake,” said Astros utility man Mauricio Dubón. “I think we just take a game at a time, and I think we’ll be okay.”
