With language, there are many different paths you can take. Interpretive roles, working in the business world, translating for movies or video games... the list goes on! I found that what appealed to me most was helping others find their path. Currently, I'm trying to extend that list from solely teaching French to native English speakers, to additionally teaching English to non-native English speakers. Learning a language can bring you to so many places in life, and I hope to do my part to guide others towards their callings in life.
Why I became a teacher...French was always a subject that I adored and excelled in. In my Junior and Senior years of high school, I started helping out the other French classes when there was a substitute and I had a free period. Between that and tutoring first year flute students, I found that I really loved sharing what I knew about something that was important to me. I had actually first planned to become a music teacher, though, when my band director pointed out that would make music into a job, I quickly changed my mind and applied for a major in French!
On Saturday you'll find me...doing any number of things! Lately I've picked up cross-stitching, though I enjoy a good book, movie, puzzle, or video game. I've been working on teaching myself German as well. I'll also sew, paint, or color every so often.
