Why I went into education...If I can empower my students, even just one student at a time, that has a ripple effect on the whole of society. I really do believe knowledge is power, and, as cliche' as that is to say, it's why I believe in public education. Literacy, too, is a key to unlocking a child's potential, and, more importantly, helping them discover who they are.
Why I became a teacher...Teaching always seemed like the best way to make money doing the things I love: making connections, talking about books, helping people, and exploring the big humanitarian questions that don't have easy answers.
On Saturday you'll find me...Going for a long run, making a smoothie, reading a book, playing piano and, if I have the energy, cooking "family dinner" for my boyfriend and his friends. I LOVE to cook.
