VISION STATEMENT
The Bacon Academy School Counseling Department’s mission is to provide all students with a comprehensive school counseling program which allows them to gain an understanding of their academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary needs in an environment that is safe, enriching, and encouraging. Our developmental curriculum aligns with both state and national school counseling standards. As a department, we have planned and implemented various opportunities for students’ post-secondary exploration via annual programming including: usage of Naviance for students’ (and parents’) post-secondary exploration to support college and career readiness, financial aid night, award letter night, dual enrollment/Advanced Placement night, college representative visits, individualized opportunities for students to meet with military, college, and vocational representatives, the college fair, and the career fair. We continue to build upon this programming by planning additional opportunities for students, including: dissemination of ASVAB opportunities, streamlining the dual enrollment registration process for students, and revising the tenth grade developmental guidance lessons to promote earlier exposure to post-secondary planning. In conjunction with working with our students as they plan their futures, the school counselors support all students in pursuing their academic goals and navigating their social-emotional needs throughout their high school careers.
