Why I went into education...I chose to be a science teacher to share my love of science with students. As an engineer and chemist I ask lots of questions and like to really understand how things work. I want students to get plenty of opportunity to experience the wonder of science so that they dig deeper and ask questions themselves as they decide what their next steps will be after high school. Life is a great adventure and I hope learning about science helps all students to be more inquisitive and amazed by the world we live in.
I moved to Connecticut back in 1991 to work as a chemical engineer at Pfizer. After about nine years at Pfizer, I chose to stay home and raise my children. As my youngest was going through elementary school, I spent many hours visiting his school to share my love of science with children in grades K-5. We even started an annual Family Science Night to allow parents and children to enjoy science activities together. Teaching science in high school was the next step in that journey and has given me an opportunity to share my love for science (especially Chemistry!) in a new and very challenging way.
On a Saturday, you'll find me...working in my garden, baking desserts for my family, reading mysteries, walking with my husband, catching up with my children and what they have been doing during the week, and spending time thinking about the next week of school at Bacon Academy!
