I was lucky enough to have teachers that showed me that they cared about me personally and not only about what I learned but how I learned. I was never a great student and I still am not, but these teachers encouraged me to push through difficulties, ask questions, and find my passion. I strive everyday to inspire students to ask questions for understanding and find their passions.
It might surprise some that I was a little chatty during school and often had to have my seat moved away from other students. Often this meant I was moved towards the whiteboard. It was here when I found that I when I worked out problems, I was able to explain my thinking and understanding to others. I found that I loved talking through problems, having a dialog with other about the best method, and helping others understand the material.
On Saturday, you'll find me...making face pancakes for my kids in the morning and then enjoying as much of the outdoors as possible, be it playing sports with my kids, going for a run, or just enjoying nature.
