Basketball
We are proud to reflect on what has been a truly remarkable basketball season. This year, our program embraced new strategies, intensive training, and innovative approaches to player development, all of which contributed to the growth and success of our teams across all age groups.
One of the standout initiatives this season was the introduction of video sessions. These proved to be invaluable, offering our girls the opportunity to analyse other players’ gameplay, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and refine their skills. Complementing this was our age-specific basketball clinic, where players worked tirelessly on foundational and advanced aspects of the game. The results of these efforts were evident in their improved dribbling, possession, and defensive structure.
Each age group had its own focus, ensuring targeted growth. Our U9 girls concentrated on moving the ball efficiently around the court, emphasising teamwork and spatial awareness. The U10s took a deep dive into the rules of the game, honing their ability to apply these in match situations. The U11s dedicated their efforts to shooting and developing a strategic understanding of the game. Meanwhile, our Opens brought everything together, showcasing their skills and leadership as a cohesive team.
Despite these advancements, we recognise areas for growth. While our shooting improved over the season, it remains an area we aim to sharpen further. This became evident during the Basketball Championship, where we played five games, winning three and losing two. Although the competition was tough, these matches provided invaluable experience and motivation for the future.
This season also saw a refreshing twist in our Inter-house competition, where we introduced a skills-based challenge. The girls were tested on critical abilities such as beating defenders, timed shooting, and accumulating points through their performance. This innovative format was not only exciting but also allowed us to celebrate the individual and collective talents within our teams. Congratulations to Trojans for their U9 victory, Crusaders for dominating the U10 and U11 categories, and Trojans Opens for their triumphant win.
As we close the chapter on this season, we do so with pride and optimism. The lessons learned, the bonds formed, and the skills developed have set a solid foundation for future seasons. Here’s to building on this success and striving for even greater achievements in the year ahead!
