Senior Primary Music

Clifton Preparatory School's Senior Primary music programme has had an exciting year, marked by commitment, skill development, and captivating performances. The children have shown remarkable growth, and their passion for music has shone through in various events and recitals.

The Clifton Band has been a highlight, meeting twice weekly to refine their skills and expand their repertoire. Their commitment and practice have led to memorable performances, including their standout appearance at the Wembley Festival in Term 2. The band’s music was also a treat at school assemblies, where their vibrant performances brought joy to the children, parents, and staff alike.

This year, the Marimba Bands expanded to include Grades 4 and 5, with the Senior Primary Marimba Band (Grades 6 and 7) putting on an exceptional show at the Arts Exhibition. The Marimba Band also shared their talents during the Amathuba Foundation Open Day, and we held a collaborative workshop with St Katherine’s Primary School, where our boys and girls shared techniques and experiences in marimba playing. This workshop fostered both musical skills and new friendships, building a shared passion for music.

The Senior Primary Choir added a special presence to the centenary celebrations for Clifton Durban’s visit and delivered a beautiful performance on Speech Day. Their rendition of traditional carols at the year-end festivities was especially moving, rounding off a successful musical year.

In addition to group performances, individual lessons in piano, guitar, drums, violin, flute, and voice have seen increasing interest. This reflects Clifton’s commitment to fostering each child’s potential and our dedication to building a bright musical future. As the year ends, we celebrate the hard work, talent, and dedication of our Senior Primary children, as well as the invaluable role music plays in our school community. Clifton Preparatory School remains committed to nurturing a passion for music that resonates throughout every grade, creating lasting memories for all involved.
