Trip to Peter's Gate - 8 November
The Grade 0 Chameleons had a memorable and enriching outing on 8 November as they visited Peter’s Gate Herb Farm for their final adventure of the year. Hosted by Karen Makin, the children were welcomed into the world of natural remedies and the wonders of herbal plants.
Set in the heart of the beautiful Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands, Peter’s Gate Herb Farm is a special place where the children were able to explore medicinal plants and learn about their natural healing properties. Karen, with her wealth of knowledge about plants and their uses, guided the children through the gardens, offering fascinating insights into the world of herbs.
The day was filled with hands-on activities, as the children created surprise gifts for their parents using fragrant ingredients from the herb garden. They also had the opportunity to plant a seedling to take home, ensuring that the memories of this lovely outing would continue to grow. The peaceful and scenic surroundings of the Caversham Valley, with its view of heaven-like hills, made the day even more special.
In addition to the educational activities, the children surprised Mrs. Whitehead with an early birthday celebration. Delicious cupcakes enjoyed by all accompanied the thoughtful gesture. Mrs. Whitehead truly appreciated the kindness and creativity behind the celebration.
This outing at Peter’s Gate was a wonderful way for the Grade 0 Chameleons to close out their year, connecting with nature, learning about the environment, and creating lasting memories. It was a day of discovery, creativity, and reflection on the joys of natural, organic living.
