Grade 1 – 3: Termly Reflection

Term 3 in the Junior Primary has been filled with curiosity, creativity, and meaningful learning. Each day, children have engaged in guided reading, discovering letters, sounds, words, and the joy of making meaning from text. Numeracy has been rooted in rich, hands-on experiences, with children exploring numbers and concepts through concrete activities and the Time2Read programme.

Themes have sparked imagination and inquiry across the grades: Grade 1 explored Under the Sea, Grade 2 investigated the Wild Animals of South Africa, and Grade 3 delved into Jock of the Bushveld. These topics brought stories, creativity, and discovery to life in classrooms.

Arbor Week was a highlight, as children planted trees around the campus. It is inspiring to know that the forests of tomorrow will stand tall because of their involvement today—an experience that beautifully connects to Clifton’s strategic vision for sustainability and stewardship.

Beyond daily academics, children embraced opportunities to serve and celebrate. Mandela Day encouraged kindness and giving, while Literature Week filled the campus with colour, laughter, and imagination through puppet shows, author visits, rhyme trails, and a vibrant costume parade. The Junior Primary Production showcased confidence and creativity on stage, with every child having the chance to shine.

As the term closed, we were reminded that learning at Clifton is about more than knowledge—it is about resilience, joy, service, and the celebration of childhood. The forests planted this term, both in the soil and in the hearts of our children, will grow for years to come.
