Fireflies and Shongololos - Termly Reflection
From bus rides to baking to stepping onto the stage, the Fireflies and the Shongololos have embraced a term filled with joy, curiosity, and growth. A highlight was zooting around the Clifton campus on a magical bus adventure, passing the sports fields, heading up to the workshop, and even stopping to greet our favourite ponies in the paddocks.
They shone brightly at the Mini-Olympics, participating with wholehearted enthusiasm and learning the value of teamwork and perseverance. On Arbor Day, they joined the Grade 3s in planting for the future. This special experience not only deepened their appreciation for nature but also reflected Clifton’s spirit of Ubuntu, as the older children patiently guided and encouraged their younger friends. Piggyback rides and crunchy horseradishes made the morning even more memorable!
Back in the classroom, songs and rhymes filled the air as the Fireflies and Shongololos prepared for the Rhyme Time on the Bridge concert. On stage, their confidence and creativity shone through.
As the term drew to a close, the Fireflies and Shongololos continued to delight in spring-inspired art, hands-on Numeracy, psychomotor sessions, and, true to Clifton’s promise of “championing childhood”, endless outdoor play. Each experience has nurtured their independence, imagination, and joy, ensuring that our children continue to grow in both confidence and character.
Rhyme Time on the Bridge - a poem about our delightful pre-school show.
Beneath the wide blue Midlands sky,
Our little Shongololos came skipping by.
Barefoot giggles, voices bright,
Filled the valley with pure delight.
Bees buzzed songs both old and new,
Fireflies twirled in a sparkling crew.
Across the bridge, the rhymes took flight,
Each child a star reaching great new heights.
Guardians and creatures, a story spun,
Melodies mingled, hearts as one.
Parents cheered and echoes rang,
A joyful chorus as the children sang.
