Heritage Day: 22 September
There was a wonderful ‘fruit salad’ of children and staff dressed in cultural attire at Monday’s assembly, proudly representing the enormous range of heritages that make up our Clifton community
Our Grade 7s led the assembly, and took the opportunity to explain and describe the traditional dress, culture and heritage behind each verse of the national anthem (Zulu, Sotho, Afrikaans and English), itself an appeal to unity and peace. We were also fortunate to learn about the Maasai, French and Motswana cultures from some of our brave Grade 7s.
With a special treat delivered by way of The Estates team’s gumboot dance to conclude proceedings, the happy hum that followed assembly was palpable, with much excitement evident…. another beautiful day in the fabric of Clifton.
