Grade 6 Showcase: 19 August

A Celebration of Talent and Thought

On Tuesday, 19 August, the Expressive Arts Centre was alive with energy as our Grade 6 children presented a showcase of their many artistic talents. The evening began with a series of captivating music performances, featuring soloists on guitar, piano, ukulele, violin, and drum kit. The Grade 6 Marimba Band also took to the stage, delighting the audience with their vibrant rhythm and teamwork.

Following the musical performances, the children presented a staged reading of the play Us and Them by David Campton. This thought-provoking piece explores how easily divisions can grow between groups of people, and how fear, suspicion, and prejudice can lead to unnecessary conflict. Although written as a simple allegory, the play resonates with timeless relevance, raising important questions about human behaviour and the consequences of failing to learn from past mistakes.

The performance sparked meaningful conversation among parents and children alike, highlighting the role of the arts in encouraging reflection, dialogue, and empathy. The evening was a true testament to the thriving artistic landscape at Clifton Preparatory and a reminder of the bright future that lies ahead for the performing arts on our campus.

We extend our thanks to the staff, parents, and most importantly, our Grade 6s, whose dedication and enthusiasm made the showcase a resounding success.
