There was a wonderful ‘fruit salad’ of children and staff dressed in cultural attire at Monday’s assembly, proudly representing the enormous range of heritages that make up our Clifton community
Last Friday, Old Cliftonians reunited for a heartfelt five-year reunion, filled with nostalgia and joy. Known as the Covid Class of 2020, and with many now holding senior leadership positions at their schools, it seems the distance created by that challenging year only strengthened their bond, with 46 of the 50 pupils attending the reunion dinner.
A Chinese proverb states that, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is today."
Clifton's tree planting roll-out over the course of the year has been something that the Lorax himself would have been proud of. We have received generous benefaction from the Clifton Foundation that has accounted for the planting of 300 indigenous trees in the valley. A similar number is still to follow. This is thanks to private donations towards our 100 Year Plan.
Friday 5th September saw our annual Inter-house Fort Building Challenge taking place. The brief was a relatively challenging one - 'Build a camouflaged Goatman-proof fort at least a metre above the ground.' An extra challenge was to use 'rope' made from tree bark as part of the construction, a skill imparted just before the event began.
