Bear Families,
Congratulations on surving and thriving during this rough school year! Your partnership with our team throughout the year was essential to the success of your students. We are so grateful for our amazing school community that stepped up each and every day, helping one another, our team of educators and support staff and the children, who are the reason we do it all.
Looking forward to the coming 2021-22 school year, we are working hard to bring students back to campus and create new opportunities for extracurricular activites. We have hired a new choir, band and music teacher... and we aren't stopping there! Bear Country is ready to return to the exciting, vibrant place where students and teachers work together for success, growth and fun.
We will continue to monitor health and safety guidelines over the summer and update our community as needed. Please note that our office will be closed from June 26-July 11, giving our team some needed time away to rest and relax in preparation for the new year. When we return, we will return to our focus on providing great things for kids in the coming school year. (Please check the calendar above for important dates for the 2021-22 school year.)
I cannot express my gratitude to each and every one of you for the enthusiasm and patience as we worked through all of the challenges presented to us by COVID-19. Your cooperation with temperature and symptoms checks, drop-off and pick-up guidelines and LINES, zooming and rooming and any other hoops you had to jump through have been so appreciated. I am proud of my team of professionals who worked together and with each of you to finish this year strong and welcome as many of our students back on campus as possible.
Enjoy your well-deserved summer break! Rest, relax and unplug... and we will see you in August for a fresh start!

2021 Bill Cummings Award
Every year, the TCA staff nominates students who they feel best embodies the characteristics of Mr. Bill Cummings. The Bill Cummings Award honors a beloved member of the Classical Academy family who has left an ever-lasting impact on the TCA community. Even if you didn’t have the pleasure of meeting him personally, you've been touched in some way by his legacy on our campus. He was our campus supervisor and took great care of the campus, the employees and the students. There was no job too big or small for Mr Bill, nothing he couldn’t fix. Everywhere we look across campus we still see his handy-work. What made Mr. Bill so extraordinarily special was his kindness, compassion and humility. We present this award annually in his honor to a student who goes above and beyond in kindness and serves others with joy and humility.
The recipent of the 2021 Bill Cummings Award is Aidan Williams. Aidan was nominated by multiple teachers as a stand-out student on our campus who exemplified the kindness, perserverance, quality of character and selfless nature, just like Bill.
From Mrs. Sullivan: Aidan goes above and beyond is ALL that he does. He has high standards for himself, always striving to do his very best, yet is not just focused on earning good grades. Aidan LOVES learning new things, is curious about how things work and is always taking on academic challenges. Aidan constantly demonstrates acts of kindness to those around him. Aidan’s default is to be deferential and respectful to others, demonstrating how he values them. Aidan has a heart to serve others and is attentive to the needs around him. Aidan leads with kindness and builds others up. He has a “can do” spirit and positivity that is contagious.
From Mrs. Blelloch: It is hard to describe Aidan because he is that rare human being that seems to possess endless energy and curiosity, is good at everything he puts his hand to, and yet retains a genuine humility that never ceases to amaze me. What stands out most about Aidan, however, is not his academic accomplishments. It is his character. Aidan is unfailingly kind, patient, and humble. He works incredibly hard but never "toots his own horn." He is mature beyond his years, and truly respectful and kind to everyone he meets. He uses his gifts to help others, just as Bill did. He is quick to smile and possesses great character, just like Bill.
Congratulations Aidan! We are veru proud of you.

Virtual Calm Room
The counseling team has developed a Virtual Calm Room as a resource for our school community. Sometimes life is challenging and we experience distress. This Virtual Calm Room was created to serve as a break and to help you find new ways to identify & manage strong emotions and build your resilience. These resources will hopefully allow you to reset back to a calm state of mind and body.
We encourage you to make it a priority to care for yourself in healthy ways. Not all coping strategies will feel right so we encourage you to explore some and find what works for YOU!
Dear TCA Families,
We ask that you try to handle any business with teachers and office staff via phone or email when possible. If you need to come to the front office, please understand the following:
1. The front door is locked. You will have to knock and wait for a staff member to come to the door.
2. If you must come inside the building, your temperature will be taken by a staff member. If your temperature is over 100 degrees, we are sorry to say that you will not be allowed into the building.
3. Face coverings must be worn while on the porch or inside at all times.
4. Appropriate social distancing measures will be followed.
If you have a question, concern, or comment about our processes, please email the team at HealthAndSafety@classicalacademy.com. As changes happen, plans will be updated.
Breakfast Program 2020-21
The Classical Academies participates in a school meal program by offering a nutritious breakfast meal every school day. Our breakfast program is available to all students that are on campus longer than two hours for an educational purpose.
Prepackaged Breakfast Kits are available on campus at various times throughout the day to allow for flexible schedules. The Breakfast Kits must be ordered online at https://classicalacademies.boonli.com by noon the day before your student is on campus.
When students arrive on campus, they will be able to choose from the available prepackaged Breakfast Kits. Each Breakfast Kit includes a breakfast cereal, dried fruit, unsweetened regular or flavored applesauce, graham crackers, and low-fat milk. All Breakfast Kits include a spoon and napkin.
The cost is $3.00 per Breakfast Kit. Eligible students may receive meals free of charge if qualified.
For more information, click HERE to be directed to our Classical Academies Meal Program website or HERE to download the online ordering and registration instructions for your site.
School Meals Available at Community Locations
On October 9, 2020, the USDA extended the summer grab-and-go school meal program to encompass the entire school year. Children are eligible to receive meals regardless of school or district of attendance. School districts are working hard to implement the new guidelines and meet local needs. Locally, we are aware of meal services in Escondido, Oceanside, and Vista. Please visit their websites for more information. To find out when your neighborhood school will be ready to participate in this program, please visit 20/21 Meal Sites for Students.
