However, sometimes it's fun to learn from an experienced homeschool parent who can walk this path with you, even virtually.

If you would like to be mentored by a veteran TCA parent, please CLICK HERE to complete a Google form by Fri, Sept 4th.

We also encourage you to join our Schoology Parent Learning Communities Group by using access code M9PT-DDJ5-F4VHP. (CLICK HERE for a video on how to join a group in Schoology.) This is a new community group we are starting up this year and know it will prove to be so informative and fun!

COVID-19 Cancels 4th-6th Grade Class Trips

The 4th, 5th and 6th grade class trips will be canceled this year due to COVID-19.

With shifting health updates, and the unpredictability of just how the school year will unfold, we have made the tough decision to cancel these class trips for this year.

Our 7th grade class trip has been moved from September 2020 to February 2021 and our 8th grade class trip has been moved from November 2020 to March 2021. We are sincerely hoping that these trips will still happen. Obviously, as the dates get closer for these trips, we will keep our travelers updated if changes arise or a cancellation is needed.

We regret this is happening and hope to see these educational adventures return next year.

Logic of English Tutorials

Families who are using Logic of English (LOE) Foundations Book A or LOE Essentials book, we have some exciting news!  Our literacy specialists have recorded teaching videos for all lessons that are included in Unit 1! These videos are designed to help you with your instruction and should be watched along with your student. There are some pauses during these videos, as the literacy specialists take on the teacher role and allow some time for your child to respond. These videos are to help you with a program you may be unfamiliar with.

If you would like to utilize these recorded videos, you may add the appropriate course by using the following Schoology course access code(s):

LOE Foundations Book A Schoology Course Code: JP9X-SPGB-XFF8Q

LOE Essentials Schoology Course Code: 3WXF-THT5-WGHF3

How to Join a Schoology Course

(Please note that these videos were only created due to our current school dynamic. Additional videos may not be created after Unit 1.)

School Pictures

We are excited to be able to provide school pictures again this year with Sumner Photography. While things will look a little different than in past years, our goal is to provide the safest and most efficient process.

September 1-2, 8:00 am-3:00 pm

Signup is required. CLICK HERE to choose your time!

This will be a touch-free, contactless picture session.  Set up will be in downstairs classrooms that are closest to the back parking lot. There will be only one camera crew per room and each room used will have one way traffic with an entrance and an exit door.

Students will sign up for a specific time slot and will sign in upon arrival. The sign in process will include a health screening. Students will enter the room one at a time through the designated entrance. The actual picture session in the room should last no more than 2 minutes and your student will meet you at the exit door.

All county guidelines for health and safety will be followed.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide the option for family pictures this year.

Please see the information below from our Photography company.

Why do we choose to Bee Kind in Bear Country?

We understand that sometimes things are hard and it can be challenging when you interact with others; you are told to wear a mask and do not want to, someone is talking and will not let you speak, you meet someone who looks and acts different than you... There are plenty of reasons to be annoyed with other people. Yet, in all situations, each of us can choose to be KIND!

At TCA, KINDNESS is a priority. The more times that you choose to be kind, the easier it will become to be kind. Our brain learns how to respond based on how we have done things in the past. Kindness is a choice and that choice becomes easier each time that you choose to be kind.

Let’s all make the brave choice to be KIND at ALL times and have an amazing year at TCA! We are here to support you in making the KIND choice.

Watch the Buzz each week for the Bee Kind Corner and ways that parents can nominate their students to be recognized for choosing kindness.

Dear TCA Families,

As we quickly approach the start of a new school year, staff and teachers will begin returning to campus. We've always had a policy of welcoming families onto the campus but given the current health order, we have to modify campus visit policies as per our Safe Reopening Plan following Social Distancing and Sanitation Protocols.

We ask that you try to handle any business with teachers and office staff via phone or email when possible. If you need to come to the front office, please understand the following:

1. The front door is locked. You will have to knock and wait for a staff member to come to the door.

2. Your temperature will be taken by a staff member. If your temperature is over 100 degrees, we are sorry to say that you will not be allowed into the building.

3. Face coverings must be worn while inside at all times.

4. Appropriate social distancing measures will be followed.

If you can avoid bringing children with you, please do so for their safety and ours. We want to hug, handshake and high-five every one of you and your kiddos because WE MISS YOU!

If you have a question, concern, or comment about our processes, please email the team at HealthAndSafety@classicalacademy.com. As changes happen, plans will be updated.

Here is some basic back-to-school information that you may find helpful as you prepare for the start of the school year:

1. Our #1 Priority is Keeping Our Families Safe!

Many precautions are in place to prepare our campus for when we are able to welcome students back on campus. Once we receive confirmation from county and state health officials that we are able to reopen, more information will be provided to our families regarding the health and safety guidelines that will need to be followed for students to return to campus.

2. Be sure to read the Classical Academies Email and the TCA Buzz every week.

This email, which comes from the TCA Organization, goes out every Monday morning with organizational information and links to the TCA Buzz with important site-specific information. Please be sure to read this each week to stay informed about up-to-date school announcements and happenings.

3. Virtual Jumpstart Conference - Thursday, August 13  This is an exciting parent opportunity to attend a professional conference created by our organization to support YOU and your students.  The 11th Annual JumpStart Parent Education Conference is designed to inspire, connect and motivate parents as they kick-off the school year. The conference will feature a keynote address, over 60 educational breakout sessions, and the opportunity to virtually network with other parents and team members. Be sure to sign up for the Jumpstart Conference!

4. To find out your child’s teacher/schedule, please log into your Household Portal in School Pathways.
