Happy Spring Break! Stay healthy everyone!

Unit 5 Virtual Field Trip: "The Snail & The Whale"

Watch the play "The Snail & The Whale" from the comfort of your home!

Longing to see the world, a tiny sea snail hitches a lift on the tail of a great big, grey-blue humpback whale. Together they go on an amazing journey, brought vividly to life through live music, storytelling, and lots of laughs - but when the whale gets beached, how will the snail save him? Join us for a heartwarming adventure inspired by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s best-selling picture book.

Along with the performance link, you will be provided with a study guide as well as a chapter guide, should you wish to view the performance in smaller parts, rather than all at once. CLICK HERE to watch a trailer for the play.

Ticket information will be available after Spring Break!

April 21 - Dine Out TCA: Chipotle FUNdraiser

On Wednesday, April 21 from 4-8 PM, join your classmates and other Bear families and raise money for our school! Watch the TCA Bear Buzz after Spring Break for a flyer and more information.

USBORNE Virtual Book Fair - April 12-25

From April 12-25th, shop online from a wide selection of fun, educational and thought-provoking books and other items at the USBORNE Book Fair. Our school receives 50% back from all purchases you make!

April 20-23 - Show Your TCA Spirit Week

Join the Bear family in showing how much we love our school and community with a week of wearing school swag, school colors and any thing you think shows how Bears can 'BEE Kind.'

If you are not attending classes on campus and would like to participate, please tag @TCABears on Instagram in your photos or email them to mmitchell@classicalacademy.com.

The Bee Kind! Corner

Throughout this school year, students will be featured in the Bee Kind! Corner for above and beyond acts of kindness. We choose kindness every day here at TCA!

Has your student demonstrated extra kindness? We want to celebrate our students as they go above and beyond to be kind to others!

Please complete THIS FORM to nominate your child.

Ellis Moore - Kindergarten B

Ellis worked hard for weeks to earn prize box. Instead of choosing a special item for himself, he decided to pick something out for his little sister because he thought she would like it.

Nominated by: Mrs. Boshaw

Kylie Powell - 6C

Kylie kindly gave of her time and talents to prepare and teach lessons about Ancient Egypt to her young friends who are students at TCA. The students loved her amazing PowerPoints and art projects.

Nominated by: Mrs. Blelloch

Virtual Field Trip: Visit a Farm!

Coastal Roots Farm Free Virtual Farm Tour is the perfect tool for educators and students to explore outside while staying in. Take a look around the property, and find out what a day on the farm really looks like. Learn about different types of produce, plant parts, growing practices, and so much more by listening to the audio at each stop along the way.

This free, virtual tour includes an in-depth exploration of all of our main production fields, as well as our Food Forest.

The NEW TCA Student Store is OPEN!

Choose from t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and even a backpack or cup! CLICK HERE to go to the online store!

Please note: The online store is open for 2 week periods, then closes for the weekend and reopens the following Monday.

Download Parent Square for Student Drop-off

When students or employees come on campus for any reason, they will be asked to complete a health screening on their mobile device via the Parent Square app. This will help us save time when checking students in to ensure that all individuals are free of COVID symptoms while at school.

To view instructions on how to download the app, CLICK HERE

Please have the green checkmark ready to show staff during screening in the church parking lot!

Pick-up Sign

Please be sure to have a sign displayed in your front windshield on the right side to help pick-up run smoothly!

Your sign should have your student's last name in all caps on top and then the teachers names underneath. If you're picking up students with multiple last names, please list all student last names in all caps.

Our spotter can call your students to the front of the line when they see the sign and have them ready as soon as you pull up!

PLEASE NOTE: Medication Policy for 2020-21 School Year

The California Department of Education has modified requirements for the way schools handle student medications which are kept on campus or carried by students while on campus.

CLICK HERE to read the updated medication policy TCA schools will put into effect for the 2020-2021 school year. Please note that ANY medication, including over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol and cough drops, MUST have a signed doctor's note to be allowed on campus.

Attention Parents of current 6th and 7th Grade Students!

AstroCamp and Catalina are offering a $200 OFF First-time Camper discount for their 2021 Summer programs!

These Summer Camps differ from the school year programs we typically plan, and offer students a chance to experience what AstroCamp and Catalina have to offer! We are excited to see this as an option for students who missed out on these Class Trips over the 20/21 school year, and hope to return to our regulary scheduled Class Trips for the 21/22 year if at all possible!

Virtual Calm Room

The counseling team has developed a Virtual Calm Room as a resource for our school community. Sometimes life is challenging and we experience distress. This Virtual Calm Room was created to serve as a break and to help you find new ways to identify & manage strong emotions and build your resilience. These resources will hopefully allow you to reset back to a calm state of mind and body.

We encourage you to make it a priority to care for yourself in healthy ways. Not all coping strategies will feel right so we encourage you to explore some and find what works for YOU!

Art Playground

UPDATE: We hope that you have been enjoying these art lessons. We will no longer be posting new lessons. However, all current lessons will remain available for the rest of the school year in Schoology

Looking for a little more art in your child’s life? Each week you will find a new lesson in the Art Playground. Lessons for K-8 will include videos that will introduce your student to a famous artist, followed by a step-by-step art project using commonly found art supplies.

Dear TCA Families,

We ask that you try to handle any business with teachers and office staff via phone or email when possible. If you need to come to the front office, please understand the following:

1. The front door is locked. You will have to knock and wait for a staff member to come to the door.

2. If you must come inside the building, your temperature will be taken by a staff member. If your temperature is over 100 degrees, we are sorry to say that you will not be allowed into the building.

3. Face coverings must be worn while on the porch or inside at all times.

4. Appropriate social distancing measures will be followed.

If you can avoid bringing children with you, please do so for their safety and ours. We want to hug, handshake and high-five every one of you and your kiddos because WE MISS YOU!

If you have a question, concern, or comment about our processes, please email the team at HealthAndSafety@classicalacademy.com. As changes happen, plans will be updated.

Breakfast Program 2020-21

The Classical Academies participates in a school meal program by offering a nutritious breakfast meal every school day. Our breakfast program is available to all students that are on campus longer than two hours for an educational purpose.

Prepackaged Breakfast Kits are available on campus at various times throughout the day to allow for flexible schedules. The Breakfast Kits must be ordered online at https://classicalacademies.boonli.com by noon the day before your student is on campus.

When students arrive on campus, they will be able to choose from the available prepackaged Breakfast Kits. Each Breakfast Kit includes a breakfast cereal, dried fruit, unsweetened regular or flavored applesauce, graham crackers, and low-fat milk. All Breakfast Kits include a spoon and napkin.

The cost is $3.00 per Breakfast Kit. Eligible students may receive meals free of charge if qualified.

For more information, click HERE to be directed to our Classical Academies Meal Program website or HERE to download the online ordering and registration instructions for your site.

School Meals Available at Community Locations

On October 9, 2020, the USDA extended the summer grab-and-go school meal program to encompass the entire school year. Children are eligible to receive meals regardless of school or district of attendance. School districts are working hard to implement the new guidelines and meet local needs. Locally, we are aware of meal services in Escondido, Oceanside, and Vista. Please visit their websites for more information. To find out when your neighborhood school will be ready to participate in this program, please visit 20/21 Meal Sites for Students.
