Unit 3 Field Trip:

San Diego Model Train Railroad Museum

Monday, January 10, 2022

The museum is opening its doors for a private and up close look for Classical Academy ONLY!

Join us for the Unit 3 all-campus field trip to the Model Railroad Museum in San Diego! Located in the heart of Balboa Park, the San Diego Model Railroad Museum is a space where imagination is beautifully engineered. Take in over 27,000 square feet of trains, trestles, and tracks while exploring both indoor and outdoor exhibits and programming for all ages. SDMRM's STEM activities will teach you why triangles are stronger than squares, explaining why many railroad bridges are created out of trusses. The San Diego Railroad Model Museum’s mission is to research, collect, preserve and present the heritage of American railroading using educational programs, displays, toy trains, and scale models of California railroads. At every twist, turn, and tunnel they spark curiosity with developing educational programming which includes education milestones using critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving. Their exhibits transform little engineers to modelers, who tinker with engines and nail down track to build and transform something from their own imaginations.

** Please note that transportation or supervision will not be provided by TCA for this event.  Parents must purchase a ticket, transport their child and remain with their child during the event.

*This field trip is non-refundable

Hello TCA Bears!

My name is Alexis Fregoso. I am the new Parent Volunteer and Event Coordinator. Before I came to work for The Classical Academy I worked as an Activities Assistant in a Senior community in Rancho Bernardo and I worked as an Admissions Aide at a skilled nursing facility here in Escondido. I have one daughter, who I love to pieces. I am super excited to be part of the bear family and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you!

Hey there Bear Family!

My name is Anissa LaForte and I am your new Registrar/Data/Health Tech Assistant. I am also the editor of The Buzz!  I grew up locally, in Valley Center/Escondido, graduated from Orange Glen HS and went to SDSU. I’m married to my high school sweetie, David, whom many of you probably already know, since he was your former Facilities guy before heading back to CAHS. Previously, I have worked for the Murrieta Valley School District, I have been an Event Coordinator/Manager for restaurants and wedding venues and have worked in medical offices. I’m excited to join the Classical Academy family! Thank you to everyone who have been so welcoming. I look forward to getting to know each of you here at TCA. Feel free to come by anytime to say HELLO!

Hello!

My name is Stacy Sharp-Thomas and I am the new receptionist at the Bear Valley Campus. I have been a parent with Classical Academy since my kids transferred over in 2015. My youngest is now a senior at CAHS. I was born and raised about 5 miles from our campus, so this is very much "home" for me. My sister and I used to ride our horses all over this area. I am frequently running into people I knew a long time ago. (Fun fact~my sister is Stephanie Terrel, whom many of you already know.)

My favorite things to do are watching my kids play water polo. I love cooking and having a big family get together whenever we can. This Thanksgiving we will have a smaller group of about 22 people and we will laugh and tell stories for hours.

I am completely enjoying my days here on campus, and I really believe we have the nicest staff and families. I feel very fortunate to be here!

Thank you all for making me feel so welcomed!

Daily Engagement Tracking

** Please be advised that this only pertains to our C Track students. Look for information from your student's ES.

Due to new legislation, the school needs to track student engagement on a daily basis. We will be doing this through a Google Form, called a “Learning Engagement Record.” Your teacher of record will be sending this form to you weekly.

You will simply click YES or NO for each day and submit the form once per week. Completing the form will take less than one minute.

This is something that has to be done on a weekly basis and is not optional.

Thank you for your help with this!

The Bee Kind! Corner

Throughout this school year, students will be featured in the Bee Kind! Corner for above and beyond acts of kindness. We choose kindness every day here at TCA!

Has your student demonstrated extra kindness? We want to celebrate our students as they go above and beyond to be kind to others!

Please complete THIS FORM to nominate your child.

Nicholas Ramirez 8th Grade

Nicholas is a smart student and ready to learn at all times. He is kind to his brothers and is always wanting to help them become better students and learners. He works hard and is pleasant to work with, giving his best in everything he does.

Nominated by Didi Pressley

Santiago Ramirez 4th Grade

Santiago is always ready to learn with a smile, a joke, and a kind word. I love working with him weekly with his reading. He always has the best attitude even on a Monday!

Nominated by Didi Pressley

Carlos Ramirez 8th Grade

Carlos always has a smile and is ready to learn. He knows what areas he struggles with and wants to go the extra mile to learn and help become a stronger student. I work with Carlos weekly and he never complains! Carlos puts his best effort into the work he does.

Virtual Calm Room

The counseling team has developed a Virtual Calm Room as a resource for our school community. Sometimes life is challenging and we experience distress. This Virtual Calm Room was created to serve as a break and to help you find new ways to identify & manage strong emotions and build your resilience. These resources will hopefully allow you to reset back to a calm state of mind and body.

We encourage you to make it a priority to care for yourself in healthy ways. Not all coping strategies will feel right so we encourage you to explore some and find what works for YOU!
