Welcome back Bear Country!
I hope that you had a relaxing and fun-filled summer!
We have been very busy on campus getting things ready for our cubs to return in just a few short weeks. We have many new faces joining the Bear Valley Team, and we are looking forward to introducing them to you in the coming weeks.
We are excited to have Choir, Band, and Junior Musical Theater return for the 2021-22 school year. Details about these programs will be in the August 9th edition of the Bear Buzz.
Teachers will return to campus on August 9th, but their first few days will be jam-packed with meetings. You will hear from your teacher or ES by the end of the day on Wednesday, August 11th.
We know you are anxiously awaiting the information about what our campus COVID guidelines will look like in the coming school year. Mr. Curry sent out an all-campus email last Wednesday regarding masks. We will continue to share more information as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience.
Please make sure that Jumpstart is on your calendar for Thursday, August 12th. If you haven't been able to attend an in-person Jumpstart event before, be sure to join us for this one! It's a day full of information, collaboration and learning geared toward all families, new and returning.
We are so excited for the coming school year. We have missed having all of our cubs here on campus and can't wait to see you soon!
Mrs. Molina
Please officially welcome Mrs. McNiff as Assistant Principal!
We are excited to officially share that Jill McNiff will be serving our team and families as the Assistant Principal for the Bear Valley campus.
Mrs. McNiff has been with our organization since 2013 when she joined our Bear team to teach kindergarten. She then moved into an intervention specialist position and last year served as our interim assistant principal. Mrs. McNiff has been in education for over 20 years and has taught students from preschool through 6th grade. She also has a background in special education.
She has two teenage boys, two cats and a dog.
Congratulations Mrs. McNiff!
Please welcome our new band and choir director Mr. Stubbs!
Hello parents and students! My name is Jacob Stubbs. I am thrilled to be one of the new music teachers at The Classical Academy. I am excited to meet everyone, share music, and support you all!
A little about myself: I received my teaching credential and bachelor’s degree from Point Loma Nazarene University, where I studied music with a focus on trombone, voice, and composition. I have spent the last few years teaching around the San Diego area, specifically at Mt. Carmel High School, Carmel Valley Middle School, and most recently, Coastal Academy. Along with teaching music, I perform both instrumentally and vocally while working together musically with my wife, who is an alum of The Classical Academies.
I believe music to be an expression of ourselves, our thoughts and emotions, and our passions. As Beethoven said, “to play a wrong note is insignificant, to play without passion is inexcusable!” Music is something that we share with one another, and as such, we are all, teachers and students alike, teammates; striving to make and share music together. Whether it is band, choir, music theory, etc., this rings true. I want all my students to bring with them to class their inherent talents and interests, and with those, work hard and have fun!
We are very excited to have Mr. Stubbs joining the Bear family!

After the tour and sessions, we will have a BBQ with swimming, creating tie dye shirts, and playing lawn games.
The suggested donation is $10+ to cover the cost of food, t-shirts, and swag bags. Please send cash or a check payable to TCA with your child in a sealed envelope or ziploc baggie on the day of the event.

Virtual Calm Room
The counseling team has developed a Virtual Calm Room as a resource for our school community. Sometimes life is challenging and we experience distress. This Virtual Calm Room was created to serve as a break and to help you find new ways to identify & manage strong emotions and build your resilience. These resources will hopefully allow you to reset back to a calm state of mind and body.
We encourage you to make it a priority to care for yourself in healthy ways. Not all coping strategies will feel right so we encourage you to explore some and find what works for YOU!
