My name is Ashley, I'm a senior and this is my first year in Science Research!
Climate Change most severely affects low-income communities and I wanted to explore solutions. One of my ideas was electrification within low-income households since electrification can reduce costs and enhance housing quality by establishing healthy and safe indoor spaces, lowering pollutants, and making it easier for buildings to regulate their electrical consumption. Also, I wanted to look into low-income communities because I empathize with their challenges, and as a privileged individual I wanted to learn as much as possible about their situations to help as much as I can.
I didn’t know about the course until the end of junior year, so if I knew earlier I would have joined from 10th grade, but I still felt like taking Science Research in my senior year would help me better prepare for college.
I'll be attending Stony Brook University in the fall majoring in Political Science on a pre-law track, and I hope to become a Human Rights Lawyer!
