This is me now as a senior!
Hello! My name is Aanya Sharma and I am currently a Senior at Clarkstown North.
A few fun facts about me are that my favorite season is fall, I love playing volleyball, and I am interested in biomedical engineering!
10th Grade:
As a first year science research student, I was overwhelmed with the amount of topics that I could study. However, I have narrowed down my topic to the effects of music therapy in children. I am very excited to see where this research takes me!
At the end of my sophomore year, I was emailing many people such as professors, music therapists, and researchers in order to find a mentor to help me while I create my own experiment. I have gotten a few replies and I am looking forward to reaching out to new people to see where this project takes me!

Now as a junior, my science research journey is coming along! At the beginning of the year I was emailing many music therapists and professors that study how music impacts attention. However, after many failed attempts and dead-ends I decided that it was time to switch my topic and explore something new. I knew that I wanted to continue researching attention and I had heard of new virtual reality technology that was prescribed to help people with ADHD. This seemed very interesting and I read further into it! Now, my topic has changed to the effects of virtual reality on sustained and selective attention in high school students. I am currently finishing up my proposal as of January 2024 and I hope to start my experiment in the spring!

Senior year has begun and I have been working hard on my project. After colleting all the needed materials and setting up the experimental design at the end of my junior year, I recently collected data from September-October of 2024. Over the summer, I began my Regeneron paper and with my data, I finished it up and submitted it to Regeneron!
