Squirrel Tag: All players but 2 are scattered in the playing area.
- Place 4 hula-hoops at the four corners of the playing area, which are safety zones. Players can stay 20 seconds in a safety zone, or until someone else steps into the hoop following them. Only one player is allowed in a hoop at a time.
- Place one in the middle, which is the squirrel's home. 2 players are chosen to be squirrels.
- On the go signal, the squirrels chase and try to tag someone (as if they are collecting nuts - as squirrels do!). If successful, they change places. The new squirrel must run to the centre hoop and yell "New squirrel!" before chasing others.

Cricket skills:
Bowling – students will form 2 teams at opposite ends of court (closer together to start with) and practise throwing underarm, then over arm as demonstrated by teacher. Have rallies to see who finishes first!
Batting – students instructed on how to hold a bat. 2 teams – one bowls and the other bats – practise all students having turns a teach.
Equipment: 2 cricket balls, bat and stumps
Cricket with 4 bases
Students use baseball type bases and a cricket bat and wicket for the game. Swap sides after each batter has had a turn. Baseball rules but using a cricket bat instead. Great fun (bases set in a diamond. Catchers on each base. When a batter is on first base they must go to second when the batter hits the ball, and so on).
Protect the President:
- All students stand in a large circle. Two students move to the centre – President and Bodyguard.
- The students in the circle are given a soft spongy ball to pass around the group and try to throw at the president. The bodyguard must do all they can to stop the president getting hit by the ball – except they can't use their hands.
- If a president is hit, the person who threw the ball becomes the bodyguard, and the old bodyguard becomes the new president. The old president moves to the circle.
Hospital tag:
- Choose 2 taggers who are the doctors.
- The rest of the class are patients. If a patient is tagged they need to hold that area with one of their hands. The next time they are tagged they need to hold that area with their second hand.
-The third time they are tagged they need to hop on one leg.
- The fourth time they are tagged they become another doctor.
EQUIPMENT - nil
Drill - Dribbling
- Divide students into 4 lines.
- Set up cones along each line.
- Students practice weaving in and out of the cones.
GAME - dribble relay. Set 4 equal groups with half the group at one end of the field and half at the other. Have the first person dribble to the other end and then back and forth until finished. The first team all done, is the winner!
EQUIPMENT - 4 basketballs, 4 cones per line (16 total)
NEW BASKETBALL DRILL
Throwing skills - Students line up in 2 opposing lines and begin closely throwing the ball to opposing partner, increasing distance gradually to a large gap.
GAME - dribble relay. Set 4 equal groups with half the group at one end of the field and half at the other. Have the first person dribble to the other end and then back and forth until finished. The first team all done, is the winner!
T-ball drills - students practise hitting from a tee and fielders return the balls. Teams swap sides. Teacher instructs on way to hit ball and judge height of ball with swing action of bat.
GAME - play as per softball rules (it is easier as there is no pitcher as in baseball - students have more fun)
KICK CRICKET
Cricket with 4 bases - play regular cricket rules except 4 bases (like softball rules) are used. Bowler 'bowls' a soccer ball which is kicked and then the kicker must run the 4 bases as per baseball rules. Students love it!
