God is a God of justice and fairness. When we study data it helps us to make fair decisions about many different subjects. To make these good decisions, we need to gather lots of information.
Have a look at the image below and work out which statements are truths, and which one is a lie.
Work through Data work stations and task cards in your classroom.
Find as many different answers as you can for this challenge.
Most of the information is on the first slide, but the questions continue on the second slide.
Now make a pictograph using the information below.
Could you collect your own information on the colour of car that your classmates have, and make a pictograph to show this?
Have a look at the graph below. Discuss with your buddy what you think it could be about. Remember - there are many possible answers.
Watch this video as a reminder of how we collect and record data.
Have a go at some of these Bar graph activities.
Could you collect your own information on the colour of car that your classmates have, and make a graph to show this?
How many different ways can you make 13 using any combination of these numbers as many times as you like?
A lot of information (data) that is collected is shown first in a table or chart. This is often done using tally marks, as you learned in Year 2. Tally marks are a good way of keeping your counting correct and making an easy way of counting - by 5s.
Here is an example of where you can collect information about people's favourite sticker designs. You can record the information using tally marks, and then turn the tally marks into a number.
Your teacher will give you some worksheets to complete where you can learn information from data tables.
Another way of recording data that you collect is to put it on a line plot. This is similar to making a pictograph, but instead of drawing actual pictures, you put crosses or dots on a chart to represent you information. Watch this video to see how it works.
Below are a couple of line plots that have been done for you. See if you can work out the answers to the questions using the information in the line plots.
