Energy activity  

This Stem is broken up into two sections. Group 1 and Group 2. 

Group 1 will complete a demonstration with the teacher. The teacher will place food colouring into three different temperature cups (without explaining what is different about each cup). In groups students must brainstorm and come up with a theory as to why the food colouring reacted different within each cup. 

Group 2 will be tasked with using two cups, tape and string to make a 3 meter long telephone. Once created and tested students must create a theory as to how the telephones work. 

Groups: Students are broken into the appropriate level groups depending on the task

Planning: Students plan their creation and create a draft to ‘sell’ to the teacher. If draft is approved they move onto the next step (thinking stage) 

Creating: Students create their object, task or etc. 

Testing: Students test their creation 

Reflection: Students reflect on their creation and discuss why it worked or failed

Start brainstorming what game you are going to make and how you will make it work.  

• This project is to be done at school.

• You are to use recycled materials.  

• You are not required to spend any money.
