How are we engaging families and peersto increase student engagement?
Tech is the foundation - Both groups need to see and hear each other. Experiment as a student to understand their experience. Know your settings.
Establish Norms & Expectations - Set these early and be clear. Each time we pivot these should be reviewed.
Balance Participation - Zoomers should not be spectators, but have opportunities to equally participate
Collaboration STILL matters- While you may want to limit screen time for your "Roomers" there are times when its intentional use will be needed. Zoom breakout rooms is a great way for your two groups to connect and work on deliverable tasks.
Keep it short- Wether it's a weekly newsletter to parents, or an online task, keeping tasks short and incorporating brain and body breaks is much needed.
