Did you Know?
Camas School District has a Board Policy and Procedure, based on Washington law, that governs the selection and approval/adoption of instructional materials. To that end, we’ve created some “at your finger-tips” resources to guide the way!
How do you know whether a material you want to use needs official approval?
The first step will always be to see if the title has already been approved. Follow this path: district web page a staff corner a learning resources a approved supplemental materials list. If it is not on this list, use the attached flowchart to answer that question.
How do you submit your request?
The Request for Approval of Supplemental Materials is an Online Google Form. To be considered, requests must be submitted two weeks before the Instructional Materials Committee meetings (see schedule below).
What happens after the request is submitted?
All requests are reviewed per policy and procedure by the district’s Instructional Materials Committee, which includes certified staff from each building, parents, and district staff. If the material you’ve submitted includes content that might press against community standards, we’ll ask you to come to the meeting to talk about the material and answer questions. The committee’s goal is always to understand the request fully before voting for approval.
