Box Drive is a utility that allows you to access files on Box.com (cloud storage) from the familiar Mac Finder or Windows File Explorer.
To install Box Drive:
Download the Box Drive installer.
https://www.box.com/resources/downloads/drive
Navigate to the location where you downloaded the file, and double-click it to run the installer.
Box.pkg on macOS, Box-x64.msi on Windows
Follow the instructions to complete the installation. If Box Drive does not launch automatically when the installation completes, you may need to go to Applications (macOS) or the Start menu (Windows) and launch the application manually.
You must log in to Box Drive the first time you open it. Start with your email address, and you will then be redirected to the Okta Profile dialog, which uses your Okta Profile username. You may need to use two-factor authentication.
After you log in, Box Drive displays a brief walkthrough of its features. After that it is visible in the Finder and menu bar (macOS) or File Explorer and the taskbar tray icon (Windows). (Note: On Windows, it is useful to drag the Box widget out of the hidden items behind the ^ and into the visible area.)
Using Box Drive
For the most part, you interact with files via Box Drive the same way you have with any others in the Finder or File Explorer. You may need to get used to the new location, and when you are using a File Open or Save dialog box in an app, make sure you use the upper drop-down to find the Box folders instead of your drive letters.
User Success recommends using Box as an online-only tool. This ensures that all files are the same version, regardless of who is using them.
