You can add or delete pages, insert a table of contents, edit headers and footers, and update site info settings in Google Sites.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
At the right, click Pages.
Point to Add .
Click New page .
Enter the page name.
Click Done.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
At the right, click Pages.
On the page you want to duplicate, click More .
To copy a page, choose Duplicate page.
To delete a page, choose Delete.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
You can add a table of contents to help viewers navigate your page structure. The table of contents automatically updates when you edit your page.
On your computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
At the top right, click Insert Table of contents.
Important: Make sure your site has titles, headings, and subheadings which will be included in your table of contents. Learn how to add titles, headings, and subheadings.
Publish your site to use the table of contents. Learn how to publish your site.
Tip: To delete the table of contents, click the table > Delete tile.
The table of contents automatically indents based on the structure of your titles, headings, and subheadings. To remove the indent:
On your computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
Click on your table of contents.
Click Flatten.
Tip: To re-indent, click Indent.
You can hide titles, headings, and subheadings from site viewers in your table of contents.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
In your table of contents, point to the heading that you want to hide or unhide.
To hide the heading, click Hide .
To unhide the heading, click Show .
In the top right, click Publish.
Tip: Your heading will still be visible when you edit your site, but it won't be visible on the published site.
You can move a page under another page to create a subpage.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
At the right, click Pages.
Drag the page where you want to move it.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
To create a new subpage, click Pages. Then, choose a page and click More Add subpage.
Tip: You can create up to 5 levels of sub pages.
On your computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
At the right, click Pages.
Click the page with the menu you want to update.
At the right, point to Add .
Click New link .
Add a link name.
Add a web address or choose a page from your site.
Click Done.
When you hide a page, it won’t show up in the menu, but people can still get to it with a link.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
At the right, click Pages.
On the page you want to hide, click More Hide from navigation.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
You can’t hide the home page, but when you hide any other page:
Subpages are also hidden.
Other sites and pages can link to the page.
If you don’t want your page to appear in search results, learn how to hide your site.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
At the right, click Pages.
Choose a page and click More Make home page.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
You can create a custom path to a page on your site.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
At the right, click Pages.
Choose a page and click More Properties.
Click Advanced Custom path enter the path you’d like to use.
Click Done.
Tip: Publishing a custom path to a page or renaming a page will create a new URL and might affect data tracking with Analytics.
The header and footer are the areas at the top and bottom of each page on your Google site.
When you create a site or a page, it will have a header. To remove it:
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
Point to the header.
At the left, click Delete .
Tip: To re-add a header, at the top, point to "Enter site name" and click Add header.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
Point to the header and click Change image.
Click Upload or Select image.
Upload or choose an image and click Open or Select.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
Point to the header and click Header type.
Choose a size for the header.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Please note: Keyhole users should NOT update the Footer of their site, the following is for documentation of NON-KEYHOLE sites.
On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
Point to the bottom of the page and click Add footer or Edit footer.
Enter your text or make other edits.
To change the background, point at the highlighted box. At the left, click Background .
When done, click anywhere else on the page.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
To hide a footer, point to the footer, and at the bottom left click Hide .
