David Webb

A native of Lynchburg, Mr. David Webb has been the Director of Bands at Jefferson Forest since 1998 and in that time has elevated the band program to a level of national prominenceHis duties include conducting three concert bands, arranging for the marching band, coordinating and directing the marching band, and teaching Advanced Placement Music Theory.  

Mr. Webb has been a band director for 32 years at the middle and high school levels.  Before coming to JF, he was Band Director at Linkhorne Middle School and Assistant Band Director at E. C. Glass HS from 1991-98.  Before that he served as the Band Director at Marion County High School in Jasper Tennessee from 1990-91.

Mr. Webb has twice been recognized with the National Band Association's "Citation of Excellence", and is an active  guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.  In 2013, Mr. Webb was elected to both the American School Band Directors Association and Phi Beta Mu (the International Bandmasters Fraternity), and was named a Legion of Honor Laureate by the John Philip Sousa Society and Band World Magazine.  In 2013, he was honored as Bedford County Public Schools Teacher of the Year and the Commonwealth of Virginia Region 5 Teacher of the YearMr. Webb is currently the President of the Virginia Band & Orchestra Directors Association. 

Webb graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Education with certification in Instrumental Music in 1989.  He was chosen for the All-American College Marching Band in 1986, performing at the Statue of Liberty Rededication in New York City.  He is a graduate of E.C. Glass High School

Mr. Webb currently resides in Forest with Karen, his wife of 27 years.  They have two daughters: Olivia, a Senior at Jefferson Forest, and Audrey, a 2017 graduate of Jefferson Forest.  His dog Tennyson accompanies him on his weekly  20+ mile runs.  His cats Teena & Timothy choose not to run.  

Webb comes from a family of well-loved Campbell County educators.  His father and mother taught for 30 years, David Sr. at Brookville High School and Andrea at Tomahawk Elementary.
