Myanmar is a multicultural and multilingual country with more than 100 ethnic groups, speaking their particular languages. Myanmar language (aka Burmese) is the official language, and English is the most used foreign language. ‘Schoolscapes’ expresses the untold realities of the language and culture ideologies of a place through signage. From an exploratory study carried out in November 2020, signage at the Panglong Hall in the University of Yangon, Myanmar, is analyzed to examine which language is used more in the schoolscape, functions of the signs and the language use in different functions of the signs, the categorization and the authorships of the signs, and the type of arrangement in each sign. Finally, the perception of students on the signage at the Panglong Hall is investigated, and it is found that there is a connection between a linguistic landscape and language learning. This finding is in line with regarding ‘schoolscapes’ as the ‘hidden curriculum’.
