Processability approaches to instructed language learning in multilingual contexts: developmental stages from a receptive competence perspective
My PhD project presents an investigation into the applicability of processability-based approaches to language acquisition within the third-language-learning context of a bilingual (German-Italian) elementary school population, and focuses on receptive acquisition of morphosyntactic structures. My research attempts to contribute towards existing Third Language Acquisition data and offer possible teaching implications.

Helen Forsyth is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Education of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, which is in a bilingual German/Italian-speaking region in northern Italy. Her research interests include cross-linguistic influence, input processing, the decoding-encoding interface and their application to the classroom context.
