Field Trips

Throughout the year, field trips, which are directly connected to the curriculum, are arranged to local places of interest. A permission form is signed by a parent or guardian at the beginning of the school year that allows students to participate in all field trips taken during the academic year. Parents are notified in advance of each field trip through the homeroom or grade level newsletters.

Students may not be able to participate on a field trip if they are in poor health or have demonstrated inappropriate behavior on previous field trips or in class. In that case, the child would need to stay home for the duration of the trip.

The cost of any entry fees is paid by the school.

Parents are often asked to attend field trips as extra hands. Parents who attend field trips will be required to comply with all child protection guidelines and to adhere to the plans and directions of the responsible teachers.

If a child is tardy to school, there is a chance that he/she will not be able to attend the field trip. Coordination of late arriving students requires involvement from the Lower School Director and the grade-level team leader.

In general, we ask that parents not request to drop-off or pick-up their child from a field trip venue. Coordinating a special drop-off or pick-up would require special attention by the teacher and this would interfere with a teacher's ability to adequately supervise all students.
