AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
ASM offers numerous after-school activities for students from Grades 1-12. Activities run from October through the end of May. At the end of an activity, all students must either take the 5:15 p.m. bus home or must be picked up by a parent no later than 5:15 p.m. Visitors and guest students are not invited to accompany students to after-school activities.
Many activities are paid for by the school; however, there is sometimes a charge for activity materials. Our intent is to offer activities for a range of interests and ages. Activities may include but are not limited to arts and crafts, ceramics, design technology and coding, drama, the arts, gymnastics, tennis, photography, science, and engineering. In addition, we offer several activities that support academic development in math and literacy, as well as a homework club and an Extended Learning program. Activities offered depend on available indoor and outdoor space at ASM and the special interests/expertise of the current faculty. For this reason, each year specific activities may vary.
Lower School students may participate in one or more activities and, if space is available, a competitive sport. Whether or not a student will be able to participate in his/her first or second choice of an after-school activity and sports team always depends on the demand and availability of spaces for that activity. When the demand for a sports team is greater than the places available, a lottery will be held for students who have signed up and returned any paperwork requested before the stipulated deadline. School facilities are also available for scout troops and seasonal sports activities sponsored by ASM parents.
Lower School students may participate in other activities that are paid for directly by the parents to the teacher. These might include a variety of dance, voice, and instrumental lessons.
