CLASSROOM PLACEMENT
Balancing our classes is a complex process, and the Lower School teachers, counselor, and Director spend a great amount of time and care in arranging class assignments. A wide range of different characteristics is considered when assigning a student to a teacher for the following year. Lower School classes are heterogeneously grouped considering the following items:
Academic levels
Matching student learning styles with teaching styles
Gender equity
Balance of Native English, non-native English speakers, and bilingual students
Students nationalities
Social and emotional mix of students
Behavioral issues
Student relationships
Balancing the number of students who may need extra support from the teacher
Because of the many variables that go into the careful consideration of the make-up of each class, there are no parent requests for a specific teacher and we cannot guarantee a particular placement for a child. We do not place children based on “friendship”.
