CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE
ASM students are expected to demonstrate good manners and a caring and respectful attitude toward teachers, students, and the school environment. Lower School behavioral expectations are based on and guided by our ASM Learner Profile. The teachers, counselor, and director work together to guide students as they work to achieve these expectations. Specific classroom and playground rules and expectations will be discussed with the students during the first week of school.
All misbehavior is dealt with on a case-by-case basis, first by the teacher, then with the assistance of the counselor and director. In the event of serious or frequent misbehavior, parents will be contacted by the child’s teacher, the LS counselor, or the LS Director.
When a child has seriously and purposefully hurt another child by biting, hitting, kicking, or pushing, parents will be telephoned and asked to pick up the misbehaving child and remove him/her from school for the day. If this misbehavior occurs at the end of the school day, the child may not be allowed to come to school the next day. If such behavior is recurring, disciplinary options may include suspension or expulsion in serious circumstances.
