Coordination of Support Team

The Lower School Learning Support program in the American School of Madrid provides support to students with differing learning, social, emotional, physical and/or behavioral needs. The team uses quantitative and qualitative data to better understand and respond to student strengths and areas for growth.

We strive to guide children through their educational experience  so they may confidently access and enjoy all aspects of the school day.  The Learning Support teachers and learning assistants provide a range of services in collaboration with classroom teachers. The services range from consultation with classroom teachers, in-class conferencing with students, and small groups to strengthen foundational skills.

Additionally, the Learning Support program in the ASM Lower School develops and implements specialized learning plans for students with diagnosed learning needs. The team, in conjunction with specialists and family members, creates Student Success Plans including accommodations and goal-driven intervention plans to support ongoing student growth.

Our overarching goal is to collaboratively understand student capabilities and provide students with the specially designed support needed for them to be productive, independent and happy within and beyond our program.
