You are emerging adults; we will treat you that way
We are very clear about the policies you are expected to follow; we also want to be clear that we will strictly enforce them.
Pay attention to policies, ask questions if needed.
If you can’t follow the policies, you can’t be in this program.
Alcohol
Alcohol is not allowed in the building. There are no exceptions or excuses. If you have alcohol, are in a room where alcohol is present, or consumed alcohol off campus, you will be sent home.
Drugs
Illegal drugs & drug paraphernalia are prohibited. This includes medical marijuana. If you are found in possession of drugs, drug related items, or misusing/abusing prescription medications, you will be sent home.
Disruptive Behavior
Any form of activity that causes harm to yourself or others is prohibited. This includes items related to art, for example. tattooing/self-tattooing. This also includes damage to school, city, or other people’s property.
Windows
Do not tamper with the windows or window screens. The windows are designed to only open a small amount and the screens are permanently installed.
Guests & Visitors
Guests and visitors are not allowed except for move-in day & move-out day. This includes parents! This policy is for all students’ safety.
Curfew
City curfew is by 10pm nightly. This follows the City of Chicago’s curfew regulations.
You have 45 minutes to check in; you are expected to be on time. Elevators will be very busy - make a plan to use the stairs or leave enough time.
Create strategies to be on time (e.g. set a reminder in your phone).
Do not be late for curfew; it is required.
Nights away must be approved by your parents/legal guardians.
Students must check-in for curfew between 9:15pm & 10pm every night.
Students are not allowed to leave the building between 9:15pm - 7:30am.
If students will be away from the building, parents/legal guardians must email saic-reslife-ecp@saic.edu in advance. Staff will confirm via phone.
Curfew is mandatory. Tardiness will not be accepted.
