Complete the Canvas Orientation

Canvas is SAIC’s online learning platform and will be the central resource for your course materials and communication with your instructors and peers.

• If your class is online with regularly scheduled meetings, you will definitely be using Canvas a lot to access your course material outside of scheduled meetings. 

• If you are in an asynchronous online class, all of your course content will be found on Canvas. 

• If you are in an on-campus course, your instructor may provide extra course information and materials on Canvas as well.

To access Canvas go to canvas.saic.edu. You will login with the same username and password you use for your SAIC email. Complete the virtual Canvas Student Orientation to get started.

Some instructors wait until the first class meeting to publish course content on Canvas. Don’t be surprised if you don’t see your course(s) listed.

Additionally, if you are enrolled in a synchronous online course and haven’t been able to access Canvas by the first class meeting, that is okay. You will still be able to attend the first class meeting using the Zoom link in the Welcome & Next Steps email.
