Canvas Orientation

Canvas is SAIC’s online learning platform and will be the central resource for your course materials and communication with your instructors and peers. 

If your class is online with regularly scheduled meetings, you will definitely be using Canvas a lot to access your course material outside of  scheduled meetings. 

If you are in an on-campus course, your instructor will likely provide extra course information and materials on Canvas as well.

To access Canvas go to CANVAS.SAIC.EDU. You will login with the same username and password you use for your SAIC email. Complete the virtual Canvas Student Orientation. You will find a link to the Canvas Student Orientation on the Next Steps for enrolled students page. 

Some instructors wait to publish course content on Canvas until immediately prior to the first class meeting. Don’t be surprised if you don’t see your course(s) listed there right away.

Additionally, if by chance you are in a synchronous online course and haven’t been able to get into Canvas by the first class meeting, that is okay. You will still be able to attend the first class meeting because you will receive your Zoom link in your Welcome & Next Steps email.
