The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), also known as the Buckley Amendment, is a federal law regarding the privacy of student education records. Under FERPA, a school may not generally disclose personally identifiable information from a student’s education record to a third party unless the student has provided written consent. However, there are a number exceptions. One exception is to the release of information that has been appropriately designated as directory information. The information below details how Workday enables you to control the privacy settings on your academic record. Click on the links below for step by step instructions.
Allowing Your Directory Information to be Shared Internally and Externally
Allow Adams State University to include information about you in certain publications, such as graduation programs, playbills for theatre productions, or sport programs.
Allow the university to do education verifications with potential employers, insurance providers, scholarship sponsors, etc.
Allow other students to search for you in Workday and see your directory information.
Allowing Your Information to be Shared Externally but Exclude it from the Workday Student Directory
Allow Adams State University to include information about you in certain publications, such as graduation programs, playbills for theatre productions, or sport programs.

Prevent other students from viewing your directory information in Workday.
Designating your Record as Private
Restrict the release of ANY and ALL information, including directory information.
Granting a Third Party Direct Access to Your Record
Grant an individual third party access to your academic record. This means they will have their own Workday account where they can login and access selected information on your student record.
