Applying for High School Concurrent Admissions
The High School Concurrent Admissions application is for students who are currently in high school and want to take college classes for high school credit and college credit at the same time before graduating high school.
Go to Adams.edu and click on the "Academics" tab at the top of the page.
On the far right of the gray buttons in the middle of the page, you will click on "High School"
3. On the upper right hand corner, click on "Online Application"
4. Underneath the sign in box, you will see "Create Account" written in blue text. Click here and then click on the box that says, "Forgot password". You will use your Adams State Username and your ASU ID is the 9 digit number assigned to you that starts with 900 or 902.
5. You will be asked you to put in an email address. Make sure you use an email address you can open right away. You will need to immediately go there to click the link provided to verify that it is a real email before creating your account.
*If you do not see the email from Adams State titled "Verify you Adams State University account", check your Spam folder.
Sometimes, you may need to re-submit.
If it is not in your spam folder and hasn't been sent to your inbox within 2 minutes, you will need to try a different email. You will need to go back to the "create account" page and click on the blue words again. Sometimes it has a difficult time sending a message into an iCloud email address. Generally, a gmail address is the easiest to send to.
If you are still not getting an verification email, you will need to contact Computing Services for support at (719) 587-7741
6. Once you click on the link in the email, or copy and paste the text into the box, you will be asked to create a username and a password.
You can close out your email verification link now!
Your username will be the one that Adams State provided for you.
You will make up your own password. This will be the password you will use to log into your Adams State email, Blackboard online, and your student account, so make sure it is a password that you will remember.
7. Now you should go back to the original sign in page and complete the "sign in" box with the username and password that you just created.
8. You may be directed to the first page to select your application or you may be sent to your home page. If you are on the Home Page, you will need to click on the upper right "Undergraduate & High School Applicants" link in blue lettering.
If your page is asking you to complete empty boxes titled "Academic Level", "Applicant Type", you are on the the application selection page. Skip to step 10.
9. You will now be directed to your "Welcome" page and see a green button that says "Start My New Application".
If you do not fully submit your application, you will need to follow in the sign in steps above and you will see a small blue link above this green button. That is your started application!
10. You willnow be on the application selection page. (Some of you may have been sent directly here)
Select "Undergraduate" for the Academic Level
Select "High School Concurrent Enrollment" for the Applicant Type
If there is more than one semester under "Academic Start", be extra careful to select the semester you will be taking your first class in!
Select "Main Campus". This includes any At High School courses, Online courses, and courses on the Adams State Campus
11. Time to begin filling out your application with the "Demographic Information" section.
REMINDERS
This is a serious application. You need to use your full legal name with the first letters capitalized.
Skip the prefix and do not use a suffix unless you have one written on your birth certificate.
Check to see that you are spelling things correctly... Especially your legal name and mailing address. A typo will require you to provide proof of name spelling and/or proof of address.
You will need to fill out every line with a red asterisk * beside it. Note that you will need to open the contact information buttons for mailing address, phone, and email to see these asterisks on the contact page.
COMMON QUESTIONS
It doesn't have "male" or "female" under Gender Identity. What am I supposed to put?
"Cis" means "one". If you were born one gender (male or female) and see yourself as that same one gender (male or female) then you are a cis man or cis woman.
2. Race is not about your skin color! It's about where your ancestors came from. The race that originated from European countries has been given the name "White". Hispanics and Latin individuals originated from the European counties of Spain and Portugal, so they are labeled as "White" under Race.
After checking the "white" box, you can check "Hispanic or Latino" in the next box.
If your are of indigenous roots from Central or South America, it is suggested that you use "White" and "Hispanic or Latino" on this application as well for demographic purposes.
3. Citizenship:
If you were born in the United States, you are a "citizen".
If you were born to a US citizen outside of the United States, such as to a missionary or military personnel, you are also a "citizen"
* Note that this information is only used for demographic information and is not shared with anyone unless they have a specific. legal warrant from a judge requesting it.
4. Do I have to put in my Social Security number?
If you do not put in a Social Security number, we will not be able to use your COF stipends to help pay for your classes. (They pay $116 per credit hour and most classes are 3 credit hours which equals $348 that you will be responsible for paying)
The only exception to this is for individuals who were never assigned a Social Security number.
5. High School and College Experience
Only put in your High School... ignore the college part even if you have some college credits
If you type in "United" it will make it easier to find "United States of America"
You need to put in your State, or when you begin to type in your school name, it may pull up other schools with the same name in other US States
COF
Very Important!!! Read!!
COF is the College Opportunity Fund, which is money from the state of Colorado that will help pay for your tuition all through you college years until you earn a Bachelor's degree. To have COF pay part of your tuition you must complete 2 steps.
You must go to the COF website "cof.college-assist.org" and apply for COF. This is stating that you want to use the COF funds.
You must authorize COF to use those funds at Adams State College. This happens after you are admitted.
* By clicking on the box that says "I give permission for Adams State University to Apply for the College Opportunity fund on my behalf" you are giving us permission to go to the COF website and create your account for you. We strongly suggest that you create your account yourself as you will be making a password and this account will stay with you all through college, but by clicking the permission we can problem solve anything that may come up with your account.
* By clicking on the box that says "I give permission for Adams State University to authorize lifetime use of COF", you are stating that we can go into your student account and tell COF to use the money to help pay your tuition here at Adams State University. Again, we encourage you to authorize COF on your ASU student account on your own, but by checking this box we can problem solve a variety of problems that may come up with COF paying out for you.
12. Almost done!!!
After you have completed all the required information, you will review your application, check it for accuracy, and then click "Submit Application"
If you missed any required information, you will see a red box in the upper right hand corner that tells you how many "errors" you have, or how many lines you missed.
Click on this red box to see where the missed information is to make it easier to find.
This is telling me that I missed putting information in on the "Contact Information" section.
I can scroll back to that section, click "Edit" and hit "Okay to discard changes". Then I can look for the red asterisk * that I forgot to put information in for.
After I save my changes, I can click on "Submit Application" again.
You will know you are done when you receive the message that says, "Thank you. Your application has been submitted."
In about 1 week, you should receive an email (at the address you used when first getting your application link) that will give you your username, email, and ASU student ID along with instructions on how to set up your account. You can also find those instructions here in the Learning Library on the High School Concurrent page.
If you do not receive your email within 1 week, contact your school counselor and ask if they have sent your transcript to us. They will be able to contact us for a status update.
