Fix-it & Winter Shutdown 11/4-11/5

Post date: Nov 13, 2016 1:28:26 AM

Trip to fix telescope slewing and prepare for freezing temperatures. Largely successful! Note that outside water tanks were hastily sealed against unfortunate mice, but will have to revisit in Spring. Drained indoor plumbing, will have to close drains before refilling in Spring. Outdoors, the valve from Mt. Wallerstein wont' close all the way. This means the hydrant remains full of water (and dripping). It's likely it'll freeze during the winter, not sure what we'll find in the Spring.

Before we left, Mt. Wallerstein had 64" of water (~7400 gallons). Inside tank was at 22" when we left (I did a bit of refilling).

Inside, we need parchment paper, hot mits. We don't need forks, napkins, plates, etc.
