Elections months are April and October, with the start of the new leadership term beginning on 1 May and 1 November respectively. The term for each Position of Responsibility is 6 months.
SCOUTS: To be considered for a troop PoR you should read the job descriptions, qualifications and responsibilities. Decide what you would like to do and discuss it with your parents. Discuss your interest with other Scouts who have held the position. Finally, complete the appropriate Candidate Application for the position you want; fill it out; have your parent(s) read and sign it; and turn it in to the Scoutmaster or Advancement Chair no later than the first troop meeting of election month.
The SPL is elected by simple majority of Troop 268 Scouts present on election night.
The ASPL candidates go through a brief interview process with the newly elected SPL, the outgoing SPL and the Scoutmaster as interviewers and with the Troop Committee Chair in attendance. The new SPL appoints two ASPLs based on the results of the interview and discussions with the other interviewers.
One Patrol Leader and one Assistant Patrol Leader are elected for each patrol.
The Troop OA Representative is elected by OA members of the troop.
All remaining PoRs are appointed by the SPL with the approval of the ASPLs and the Scoutmaster.
