Job Description: The Outdoor Ethics Guide helps the troop plan and conduct an outdoor program that emphasizes effectively practicing the principles of outdoor ethics. The guide works to help Scouts improve their outdoor ethics decision-making skills to help minimize impacts as they participate in outdoor activities. He supports Scouts who are working to complete the relevant requirements for the Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks.
Attendance: You are expected to attend at least 66% of troop meetings and activities. You must contact the ASPL if you are not going to be at a meeting.
Notes: The BSA Leave No Trace Trainer Course Manual restricts training to youth ages 14 and higher. Youth who have completed the required training are eligible –this must be done before you can accept the job. To have a good program, you need to attend nearly all troop and PLC meetings. You are expected to teach others the aspects of Outdoor Ethics. Present at least two skills during your tenure and attend at least two campouts, if possible attend all backpacking trips.
