Job Description: A Scout at least 16 years of age who has shown outstanding leadership skills may be appointed by the Scoutmaster, with the consent of the PLC, to serve as a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster (JASM). These young men (a troop may have more than one JASM) follow the guidance of the Scoutmaster in providing support and supervision to other boy leaders in the troop. Upon his 18th birthday, a JASM will be eligible to become an Assistant Scoutmaster.
Attendance: You are expected to attend at least 50% of troop meetings and activities. You must contact the Scoutmaster if you are not going to be at a meeting.
Notes: The JASM serves in the capacity of an Assistant Scoutmaster except where legal age and maturity are required. You will fill a vital role in the troop. Scouts look up to you for guidance and will rely upon you for help. Lead by example in living the Scout Oath and Law in your everyday life. Show Scout Spirit in everything you say and do. Mentor younger scouts without being condescending, especially those senior Scouts on the road to Eagle. Give advice to the SPL and PLC when appropriate. Perform duties as assigned by the Scoutmaster.
