Job Description: The Chaplain Aide assists the troop Chaplain (usually an adult from the Troop Committee or the chartered organization) in serving the religious needs of the troop. He ensures that religious holidays are considered during the troop’s program planning process and promotes the BSA’s religious emblems program. He helps plan for religious observance in troop activities. Prepares opening and closing non-denominational prayers. The Chaplain Aide helps everyone in the troop by preparing short non-denominational ‘Scouts Own’ religious observations for campouts and other functions.
Attendance: You are expected to attend at least 66% of troop meetings and activities. You must contact the ASPL if you are not going to be at a meeting. If you will not be attending a campout, coordinate with the SiC and designate a Scout to prepare either a Saturday evening or Sunday morning ‘Scouts Own’ service.
Notes: You must be reverent and set that example. The Chaplain Aide works with the Troop Chaplain to meet the religious needs of Scouts in the troop. He also works to promote the religious awards program. Makes sure religious holidays are considered during troop program planning.
