Job Description: The Troop Guide is both a leader and a mentor to the members of the new-Scout patrol. He should be an older Scout who holds at least the First Class rank and can work well with younger Scouts. He is the acting patrol leader of the ‘New-Scout Patrol’.
Attendance: You are expected to attend at least 66% of troop meetings and activities, except during the 4-6 weeks after crossovers when your attendance should exceed 75%. You are expected to attend the Spring Skills campout. You must contact the SPL if you are not going to be at a meeting.
Notes: You will greet new Scouts immediately upon cross-over and work with them to quickly get through the Scout rank. The first year as a Boy Scout is a critical time with new places, new people, new rules, and new activities. Teach basic Scout skills and get new Scouts on the track to first class within a year! Help all new Scouts feel comfortable, whether crossover Scouts or transfer Scouts. Help them fit in. Introduce new Scouts to troop operations. The Troop Guide is a friend to the new Scouts and makes first year with Troop 268 fun and successful.
