Adult Mentor: Troop Committee Historian or other Scouter
Term: 6 months PLC: Member
Job Description: The Historian collects and preserves troop photographs, news stories, trophies, flags, scrapbooks, awards, and other memorabilia and makes materials available for Scouting activities, the media, and troop history projects.
Attendance: You are expected to attend at least 66% of troop meetings and at least 75% of troop activites. You must plan on having every activity documented. If you cannot attend, make sure at least one Scout is going to record the activity for you. An adult may help here as well. You must contact the ASPL if you are not going to be at a meeting.
Notes: The true value of a good Historian does not show up until years later. The Historian provides material for displays and presentations of current activities. Will work with the Webmaster for the troop webpage to ensure current activities are reported. Gather pictures and facts about troop activities and keep them in a historical file or scrapbook. Takes care of troop trophies, ribbons, and souvenirs of troop activities. Keeps information about former members of the troop. Be someone who enjoys attending things and can record and take pictures.
