Job Description: The Patrol Leader is the top leader of a patrol. He represents the patrol at all PLC meetings and keeps patrol members informed of decisions made. He plays a key role in planning, leading, and evaluating patrol time and activities and prepares the patrol to participate in all troop activities. The patrol leader learns about the abilities of other patrol members and fully involves them in patrol and troop activities by assigning them specific tasks and responsibilities. He encourages patrol members to complete advancement requirements and sets a good example by continuing to pursue his own advancement.
Attendance: As the top leader in your patrol, you are expected to attend at least 75% of troop meetings and activities. You must contact the ASPL or SPL if you are not going to be at a meeting and make sure your assistant patrol leader can cover in your place.
Notes: The Patrol Leader is the elected leader of his patrol. He maintains discipline in his patrol. Asks for help when needed. Confers with the Assistant Scoutmaster assigned to the patrol. You should encourage attendance, contact absent patrol members and keep the Scoutmaster apprised of Scouts in your patrol who are habitually absent. You are encouraged to plan and execute at least one patrol outing during your tenure. You will keep your Assistant Patrol Leader informed and integrated in the patrol.
