Writing Prompt
Why would you want someone to read your essay and give you feedback? How many people would you allow to peer review your work?
Rough Draft Due Today
Write a properly formatted, grammatically correct 300 to 500 word essay. You will choose two of the Bill of Rights. For each one, explain the amendment, explain why it was added to the Constitution, explain why it is relevant today by giving a contemporary (modern, current) example of the amendment in action. You will also want to include why you chose these two over the other eight.
Enrichment: Show how the two amendments complement one another. ( If you are really feeling devious, try to find an example of how the two amendments contradict or undermine one another.)
IEP/504 Modification: Select one amendment.

Tell about the best introduction you ever received. What was great about it? What was the worst? What made it bad?
Perfect: Composition - Students discover how to grab readers' attention, write clear thesis statements, create outlines, develop convincing arguments, and present clinching conclusions. (Video)
Work on improving your introduction, conclusion, and transitions.
Introductions- You never get a second chance to make a first impression…unless the person has amnesia. Good luck with that.
Conclusions- Alls well that ends well.
Transitions - What are they good for?
See the Writing Resources Folders on the Links page.

Activity - What are tone words? Where can I get mine?
Create a graphic organizer of sorted tone words. You need at least three dozen, but you can never have too many ways to express yourself. Oh, and there’s a prize. Do you think it is for who has the most? No. Who has my favorite? Maybe. Who has the most innovative way of organizing and displaying the information? Oh, you are red hot now. I wouldn't share. It’s hard to split a slinky or a gummy bear.
